What does Acupuncture treat? 

 

 

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture for effectively treating over 43 ailments including:

The following is a list of some of the techniques which may be applied during your treatment at Valley Passage Acupuncture.

    Acupuncture: The insertion of fine needles into particular points on the body selected according to the theories and principles of Chinese medicine for the purpose of restoring balance to the functioning of the body and its internal organs.  Needles are all prepackaged, single use, sterilized needles.
    Chinese Herbal Therapy : There are over 450  herbs used in oriental medicine. Specific herbs are combined to make classic formulas which treat imbalances and disease that may arise in the body.   These formulas can also be modified specifically for individual patients.                                              Cupping: This technique is a way of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum in a glass or plastic cup which is  placed on the skin.  This is used to treat  "stagnation" in the body which can manifest as congestion or muscle aches.                                                                                  Tui Na: This is a style of Chinese bodywork which acupressure along channel meridians and specific points to treat muskuloskeletal disorders. Moxibustion:This type of therapy utilizes the mugwort plant which is dried and processed to make, what is known as, moxa.  It is then burned either over a point, on a needle, or directly on the skin.              Dietary Therapy:  One of the first lines of defense in the prevention of disease or recovering from disease is diet.  Following eastern nutritional guidelines Kim will work with patients on modifying their diet if necessary.
